This track was refined from a loop I made one weekend afternoon when I decided to sit down and create some new music while my wife, Payton, worked on homework. She asked if she could listen while I worked, so I shyly agreed. I had never started creating music from scratch in front of anyone, so this felt very new and vulnerable for me. I picked sounds and played along to a simple drum beat based on what felt natural and good to me in those moments, and it was a rejuvenating experience for me both mentally and musically. The whole process was really quite fun and surprisingly easy compared to what I have done in the past (as far as setting expectations for myself and never hitting them, and letting that feeling of failure drain me). It's definitely the fastest I've ever finished and released a piece of music and I have Payt to thank for that because she is the steady voice outside of my head when I am stuck in it.

"supertransparency "is an addition that I made when trying to figure out guitar tone. At one point I turned off all of the effects (overdrive, chorus, delay, reverb - the ones that are supposed to instill confidence).
I ended up enjoying the skeletal feel it had, so I decided to make a second version of this song with little to no effects - essentially a bypassed version. I go back and forth, but most of the time I actually prefer this version the most. Funny how that works.
